Welcome to CraftMe Store: The House of Elliot
Diana Elliot is a photographic artist who lives in the vibrant and diverse city of Auckland.
Several years ago a reminder of the fleeting nature of human existence left her with a keen appreciation of life, and this world in all its beautiful, messy, and sometimes painful exuberance. In her work Diana salutes this life, its intensity, its brilliance - the suggestive resonance, and power, and beauty, of its lavish diversity of form and expression. She seeks to evoke that presence of being that transcends time and place.
Through her lens, Diana highlights the lyric subtleties of nature and of the man made. She characteristically captures her images by obscuring the representational quality of the objects that they reference. The works become enigmatic. Viewers, unable to completely decipher what they see, may then turn their attention to the combined elements of colour, form, texture and line and the feelings these evoke.
Diana encourages the viewer to bring their own associations to the works, and to extend their experience of her artworks to a heightened enjoyment of the often subtle, beauty that surrounds them daily.
Diana is deeply committed to the possibility of a world in which chronic persistent hunger has ended, in harmony with nature, and every child born has the chance to live a healthy and productive life. Some of the proceeds of her photography are contributed to The Hunger Project, an organisation working effectively and strategically to make this a reality.
